A professor told me yesterday that she thought that there’s been a reduction in gay teen suicide because it’s so much more socially acceptable. I wonder how much this is true, or how much it is felt in the more rural areas of the world. I wonder how teen lesbian popstarts would be treated in the US…
lol… its funny to find this note here on your blog which i randomly looked up in seach of ways to procrastinate. t.a.t.u. will be the russian representative at the European song competition thing this year i believe, they’ve taken Europe by the storm and have a large following in the US already (they’ve started the crossover a while back). t.a.t.u. is a brilliant russian production that plays on the fucked up pop-culture of the west. Its too bad they aren’t really lesbian, just two young girls that don’t mind kissing each other on camera, although who knows, really. i’ve been watching the fun unfold for about a year now, tipped off by a teenage friend of mine who lives in Russia. Its fascinating… they are also the only russian band to reach such recognition in the west.
