Mozambique, 1983.
It was May when saw an elephant lay down in a floodplain to die.
Then Spring came arround, and where the elephant once stood, a termite mound had risen.[…] There i spent my childhood.[…] Sometimes when the tide would rise i would stand alone at the top of the mound turned island, and watch the termites take turns repairing the elephant.
When the fishermen would give me a ride back to shore i would always have a termite or two stuck to my butt. And they would tell me the elephant shaped mound would one day be shaped like me.
