Look in the "iPod" tab of the Preferences window in iTunes while the iPod is connected. Check enable disk mode (or something to that effect--I dont' have my iPod handy). Now your iPod should stay mounted all the time (and you will need to remember to unmount it manually before disconnecting).

Alright here is my dilema, i can get my iPod to upload songs and everything but when i want to play songs like a song that is on a single playlist or even a group of a 100 songs or so, all it does is just skip it. When i say it skips the song, it doesn't even play it, kind of like it can't read it and it will do this with all the songs in that playlist. Got any idea why this is happening or what i can do to fix this issue? i dont really want to clean it out and start over again becuase that would just take too much time and it would be my third time, so other options are preferred...HELP! lately when I plug my ipod into the usb port on my computer to update it with new songs, playlists, etc. the "do not disconnect" sign pops up on the ipod just like normal, but nothing happens on my computer. usually it says "updating ipod do not disconnect" and this stays there until it's finished but lately that doesn't happen at all no matter how long I leave it in there. My piece of shit iPod was on half battery at 3:00, I get home from work at 9:00 to find empty battery, when I try and connect it to my computer it does fuck all and just comes up with that fucking irritating folder/exclamation mark, same for when I try and charge it and same for when I try and do anything with it. my podcasts now appear along with the artists (music) section aswell as my video podcasts which won't show on the ipod now either...was wondering if i will have to take my ipod home, plug into my itunes, delete all my files then re-import them from my itunes library???

ok, i just got a new computer and threw out my old one. So I plugged my ipod in and accidentally pressed update but there were no songs on iTunes so it updated nothing, so now my iPod is empty. Is there a way to get it back cuz I spent a lot of money on those songs.

I've trying restoring, updating,and getting into disk mode. I cannot get my computer to recognize my ipod Mini at all. Does anyone have any brillant ideas as to what is going on? I'm getting to the point that I am almost bald.

Hey my ipods the same as most of yours. At first, it wouldn't show the album artwork even though on prefs it was ticked.
Then it froze on a song and after about 2 days of non-stop connecting to the computer it fixed on its own. Its happened again and I'm going through the same process.
As for all the other people with the same problem as me try this:
1. Slide hold switch to hold and back again. x4
2. Press both the Menu and center button.
3. After about 6-10 seconds, the apple logo comes up.
4. The file and exclamation point comes up (if you have this problem)
5. Plug into PC non-stop for two days or until it shows charging animation.
6. By the next morning it should be fixed.

Thats how mine fixed last time, hopefully this time too! Fingers crossed!!!

Is there any way to transfer my bought tunes from Napster to my Ipod without using a file-sharing download like ShareBear.
