Friendster sociologist
Thanks to Tina Fetner I’ve discovered another sociologist roaming around the blogosphere. Her name is Danah Boyd and she has some interesting things to say about everything from internet networks to European culture. The NY Times’ circuits …
I would argue (and did on Jill’s blog) that the technology is actually *not* quite there, despite the popular assurances by some of the biggest wireless service providers.
I think it is more than cultural…for me it was three reasons as I commented on the post.
1. Non-intuitive interface for my US brain.
2. Non-competitive pricing. Should be included with with my zillion minutes plan I already buy.
3. Lack of practice. I can type here soooo much faster than text. Unless it’s short messages like “I love you” to my SO.
