If you know of anyone in New York that&#8217;d be interested, let me know!<\/p>\n<p>JOB TITLE:\t\tOnline Organizer (Part-Time)<\/p>\n<p>LOCATION:\tNew York, NY<\/p>\n<p>REPORTS TO:\tExecutive Director<\/p>\n<p>WORKS MOST \tWorldwide and College Campaign Directors, Executive Director,<br \/>\nCLOSELY WITH: \tTechnology Consultants.<\/p>\n<p>DESCRIPTION:\tThe position of On-Line Organizer is classified as an exempt half-time position.  In general responsibilities include: Moderate discussions on V-Day list-serves and manage broadcast messages to V-Day organizers around the world; Participate in the design and implementation of technology to support communication with and among organizers; Facilitate volunteer activities of organizers, translation services, on-line promotions and other on-line, web-based extensions of V-Day&#8217;s work; Work closely with the Directors of the College Campaign and Worldwide Campaign, and other staff on technology and communication issues; Such other tasks and duties as may be assigned.<\/p>\n<p>SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Manage and update and sometimes build the V-Spot (The V-Spot is the internal site for all of our organizers.  It is a HTML\/PHP\/mySQL system)<br \/>\n&#8211; Manage Contractors<br \/>\n&#8211; Tech support for Organizers<br \/>\n&#8211; Create reports<br \/>\n&#8211; Update material on vday.org<br \/>\n&#8211; Manage Atof.net and make certain our boxes stay up<br \/>\n&#8211; Serve as system administrator V-Day staff<br \/>\n&#8211; Envision ways in which technology can be used to enhance V-Day<\/p>\n<p>An ideal candidate would have (in the order of priorities):<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Good communication skills, patience and politeness<br \/>\n&#8211; An interest in building community in a digital realm<br \/>\n&#8211; An ability to design system specs and manage outside contractors<br \/>\n&#8211; A ability to negotiate data on a UNIX-based system<br \/>\n&#8211; HTML knowledge<br \/>\n&#8211; PHP, mySQL knowledge<br \/>\n&#8211; Perl, Javascript knowledge<br \/>\n&#8211; A strong working knowledge of Windows and Mac OS 9\/10 and PC\/Mac Office is desirable<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience troubleshooting PC and Mac computer problems is desirable.<br \/>\n&#8211; Any and all other technical skills<\/p>\n<p>V-Day is a virtual organization. In 2003, over 1,000 V-Day benefit events were presented by volunteer activists around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls and raising $4 million.<\/p>\n<p>The V-Day movement is growing at a rapid pace throughout the world. V-Day, a non-profit corporation, distributes funds to grassroots, national, and international organizations and programs that work to stop violence against women and girls.
