This is very interesting. Congratulations!

I will be interested to know when there are conflicts between the board and the interests of the company, how they are dealt with. What kind of power does the board have?

Also, I hope you can write publicly about such conflicts?

Will the benefit to the users equal the benefit to livejournal-the-company of having such exciting and prestigious people associated with it?

Me: “Well, yeah, she shows up sometimes, because she’s cool.”
A: “No, like… the Russian newspapers.”
Me: “Ah.”
A: “???”
Me: “Well, yeah, she’s on the LJ advisory board. Like I said, she’s cool…”

pity that you know so little about Russia, yet decided to put your feet in… let’s wait – i think it won’t be that long when you change your opinion. and be prepared to be challenged with very difficult if solvable at all questions.

As a long-time LJ user, I find it very comforting knowing that there will (hopefully) be some honest and open communication between the powers-that-be and some of those who best understand the significance of preserving the ideals of LJ that many have been familiar with and grown to love. I think you have a very eloquent way of communicating yourself, and you have an exceptionally good sense of the underlying aspects of LJ in the community aspect (and why wouldn’t you? that’s what you DO), and that can only mean good things for the community.
