Hey there. I am an undergrad doing my honours in Sociology at the National University of Singapore (and yes, I'm from the island). I was doing some really last-minute research on the internet for my thesis and I came across your name in a web article on wired.com so I googled and found you here. I have only just begun to read your blog, but I thought I'd drop you a message to ask if you would mind if I cited you on anything I read in your blog? My research is on Anonymity and Intimacy in CMC. And the softwares I am looking at include ICQ, Livejournal and Friendster. In any case, I wish I'd found your blog earlier. And I reckon I would have if I started researching earlier but I am more a procrastinator than an academic (heh I am 10 days from my deadline as of now)

All the best for your conference.

Warm (humid, and very rainy) greetings from over here in Singapore,
Jo

I had the same experience at the Etcon. It really needs to happen on the fly or not at all, at least for some of us. Kind of a test for the validity of an idea, perhaps. Thanks for the insight.
