To make matters worse, i think that i broke a toe while rushing around trying to get data off of my Mac. It’s swollen and i can’t stand on it. Thank goodness for ice and Aleve.

i think i broke my pinky toe on my right foot. It happend last night and i woke up in the morning and it was swollen and really disformed. My mom said there is nothing i can do, and she wont take me for x-rays. I have a bad ankle injury on that foot and im scared.Should i go to a Doctor. i just taped the toes together. But do i need a cast? yes it hurts to walk but my mom says i dont need cruches cuz its just a broken toe. i need help

Please stop bein’ such a whiny bitch and go get a job. A cast for a broken toe? You’re wasting everyone’s time. Just rub some vagisal on it and get to work. You’re the reason why health insurance costs so much.

May I inform you that a broken toe DOES hurt very badly, and if not splinted properly can lead to SURGERY if the toe doesn’t heal in the right alignment. Do your research before you make such an idiotic statement, ASSHOLE.

I recently broke my pinky toe too. I knew not to go to the doctor but have been 3 weeks now and I still am uncomfortable in anything but flip flops which are not suitable for a professional workplace. Any suggestions? Does it take that long to heal? Somebody told me 6-8 weeks. I am just impatient.

Bloody Hell you people. Have none of you ever broken a toe before? It hurts there are more painful things! Flip flops are best (footware wise) but there is nothing more you can do apart from ice and painkillers, oh yeah and strapping in to the toe next to it – if you can be bothered.

I broke my pinky toe recently too, first it didnt hurt & I was able to bend it. But a couple hours later it swelled up & my foot around the broken toe area turned light purple, not real noticable bruise. I iced it, still the pain was increasing. Throbbing unbearable pain. I really didnt want to go to the ER for that, but was talked into it. By all means, if the pain increases, get checked.
They did an X-ray to see how bad it was, then they prescribed vicodin which does take some pain away. (about $15)
Then they put a small part of guaze between my pinky toe & other toe beside it (this keeps the bacteria from forming so fast, but needs to be changed twice a day or you will have something worse to worry about, and your toe can fall off from an infection) and they tape the two toes together snug but not tight. (change the guaze & tape twice a day)
They told me if I have to walk, use the other part of my foot, without trying to put pressure on the side of injury.
Also stated to wear soles that dont bend easily!! Make sure you have a good solid comfortable pair of shoes if needed.
In my case, mine was a jagged broke & I was told about 4 weeks it should be healed 🙂
Take some IB for the swelling to stay down.

I broke my big toe 2 days ago. I was pissed off and kicked my chair which is very heavy like a dumbass. Next thing you know I m screeching with pain. At first I was worried about the nail rotting off. Now I know its broken, its swollen, and purple in some places. I cant walk on it or bend it upwards. It doesn t hurt though as long as I dont put it under stress. I m worried, should I go to the hospital. I got the impression there s nothing to do it ll eventually heal.
On july 4 I dropped a mirror on my big toe and broke it.I also in the process puled the toe nail out of the nail bed and ripped my toe open.Blood was running everywhere went to hospitial they cut the rest of the toe nail off and gave me about 10 stiches.They did x-rays and it was broke,the also used my old toe nail that they cut off and used it as a splint they sewed it to my toe very painful. Dose anyone out there know how long it takes for a big toe to heal.I would like to go back to work, but i can’t get a shoe on.

I ran into a doorjam yesterday, and now I cant walk on the pink side of my foot. I just taped it together, and am hoping for the nest, but if it still hurts in a week I’ll get an X-ray. I’ve never broken anything before and I am curious if its broken or just jambed. Any recommendations on what to do?

I stepped wrong and fell down some stairs last night while chasing my husband down. Pain was the first clue that my toe was broken. Right pinkie toe was also suddenly pointing in the WRONG direction. I am a nursing student and also a control freak, perfectionist — So I decided to set it myself. This process made me appear to have tyrets syndrome! As it turns out, I may have broken not only my proximal digit but my 5th metatarsal as well. Going to get an xray now.

I broke my pinkie the night before leaving to baby-sit 3 hyper grandsons…drove 9hrs to get there. Found masking tape is a great non-allergenic wrap…the pinkie taped to the next toe. Just aware of it hurting one week after the break and no more kids to care for! I was told by the Dr. who x-rayed the toe that I possibly should see an Orthopedic surgeon when I reached my destination (I didn’t).
By the way, the nurse-girl should look up the correct spelling for Tourette syndrome as it’s not in the Collegiant Webster’s but should be in her nursing books somewhere!!
